Deck of Goobs
About the Project
I am 1000% the type of guy to whip out a deck of cards on a moment's notice. Doesn't matter if it's a picnic in the park, a night out at the local brewery, or a brutal 7-hour layover at the airport, I can and will bust out some cards.
My siblings and I especially love to play card games. Some of our favorites include Egyptian Ratscrew (ERS), Yaniv, Spit, Presidents (also called Scum or Kings), Shithead, and Cambio - and that's just to name a few.
This love of the game inspired me to design a deck of cards in my own style! For this project, I used Procreate to come up with the overall look of the cards. This included all the suit emblems, the number cards, the face cards, the royal cards, the back of the cards, and of course the Jokers! Although in my deck, they are formally known as the Goobers.
Once the design of the cards was completed, I used a card-printing service called "Make Playing Cards" to bring the deck into the physical world.
The tin boxes that the cards are delivered with are standard, blank tin boxes. So the finishing touch to this project was to create stickers that could be placed on the boxes to give the deck the full look of a good deck of cards.
